Durable medical equipments are used in the treatment of diseases at home to aid better quality of living. Some of the durable medical equipments include:

Oxygen tents: Oxygen tents are devices used to provide high levels of oxygen to the patient than normal levels. It is a transparent plastic cover placed to cover head and shoulders or in some cases covers entire body. These are enclosed and they have a zip on one end. It is used in patients with lung, heart diseases to provide oxygen supply to the lungs and tissues.

Nebulizers: Theses are electrical devices used to administer medicament to the lungs. In this drugs to be administered are placed on the face mask and is connected to the compressor. When compressor is turned on it creates pressure and converts the liquid medicament into fine and soft mist, so that it can be easily inhaled through mouth or nose. Nebulizers are used to treat bronchial asthma and respiratory tract infections.

CPAP: Continuous positive airway pressure is used to supply oxygen to the patients with sleeping apnea and breathing problems. This opens the air ways by creating a positive pressure on them and supplies oxygen to the patient. It is also used in infants to treat infant respiratory distress syndrome.

Catheters: Catheters are durable medical equipments that has a wide use in the ophthalmic, urological, neurological and cardiovascular systems. These are inserted into the body parts for the purpose of application of medicine, drainage and surgical procedures.

Wheel chairs: Wheel chairs is used by patients who have difficulty in walking due to ill health. These wheel chairs can be operated by a motor or is manual driven.

Negative pressure wound therapy: It is a therapy used to treat wounds. In this wounds are healed by applying a negative pressure using a foam dressing to the wounds. It is a best therapy to treat diabetic ulcers.

Enteral nutrition equipment: This equipment is used to give enteral nutrition therapy. It involves the supply of food or nutrients to the stomach and small intestines through tube.
