Why Braces are Used for Straightening the Teeth?

Braces are the devices used for making teeth straighter by filling gaps between the teeth which gradually by push and pull the teeth into a desirable alignment.

Mainly these braces are used by orthodontists (doctors for straightening the teeth). These braces are made up of metal brackets and wires fixed to the teeth.

For treating children, as well as adults, traditional braces are mostly used which consist of a small bracket that is glued to each front tooth and the molars are adjusted with a band that encircles the tooth.

The main advantage is that, even while wearing the brace one can eat and drink as usual. But the disadvantage is that the person who is wearing the braces must avoid certain foods and eating habits such as chewing gum, crispy particles, etc. And also braces should be periodically tightened by the orthodontist whenever there is a feeling of discomfort.

This process can take a longer time and requires regular checkups and adjustments.

Using braces for the improper teeth will help you in improving facial features. It is also possible to speak, chew and maintain oral hygiene even while having braces, but using braces for the first time can be headache.

Metal braces are the traditional ones and take longer time to fit, but there are also other alternative methods designed to give more distinct and quicker results.

Braces will help in treating problems like gaps between teeth, when the top teeth overlap the bottom ones too much, when the top teeth stick out, when the lower teeth juts out, when the teeth don’t meet when you bite together, when the teeth bite on the wrong side of each other, misplaced mid line, over crowded teeth and so on.

With all these applications, braces are the highly recommended and preferred means for treating dental problems.
